Rođena u Venecueli, Gabrijela Montero nastavila je svoje muzičko obrazovanje u Londonu, gdje je diplomirala na Kraljevskoj muzičkoj akademiji. Tokom karijere sarađivala je sa vodećim svjetskim orkestrima i dirigentima, uključujući Njujoršku filharmoniju, Orkestar Filadelfije, Simfonijski orkestar grada Birmingema. Kao kompozitorka, Gabrijela Montero potpisuje djela poput Ex Patria i Latin Concerto, koja su stekla međunarodna priznanja. Za svoj umjetnički i

društveni angažman nagrađena je Betovenovom nagradom za ljudska prava i Václav Havel nagradom za kreativno neslaganje koju dodjeljuje Oslo Freedom Forum. Montero je nastupila i na inauguraciji Baraka Obame 2009. godine, a njen rad karakteriše spoj klasične muzike i snažnih društvenih poruka. Od 2024. godine djeluje kao umjetnica u rezidenciji i profesor klavira na prestižnom Muzičkom institutu Klivlenda.

KotorArt Don Branko’s Music Days will host one of today’s most authentic pianists, Gabriela Montero, on August 12 at the Church of the Holy Spirit. Renowned worldwide for her virtuosity, expressive musicality, and extraordinary gift for improvisation, Montero consistently captivates audiences and critics alike on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, the Vienna Konzerthaus, and the Berlin Philharmonie.

Born in Venezuela, Gabriela Montero pursued her musical education in London, graduating from the Royal Academy of Music. Over the course of her career, she has collaborated with leading orchestras and conductors, including the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. As a composer, Montero is the author of works such as Ex Patria and Latin Concerto, both internationally acclaimed. For her artistic achievements and social engagement, she has been honored with the Beethoven Prize for Human Rights and the Václav Havel Prize for Creative Dissent, awarded by the Oslo Freedom Forum.

She also performed at Barack Obama’s presidential inauguration in 2009. Her work is defined by a unique fusion of classical music and powerful social messages. As of 2024, she serves as artist-in-residence and piano professor at the prestigious Cleveland Institute of Music.
